Assault On Government Officials
Dane Justice Morganin was arrested in New
York and brought back to Columbus County.
Whiteville Police Department retrieved Mr. Morgan of Staten Island, N.Y., from the Queens Criminal Courthouse to Whiteville.
He was retreaved by a fugitive warrant issued by the Governor's Office.
Mr. Morgan is charged with assault on government officials, possession
of a firearm by a conflicted felon, fleeing to elude arrest and going
armed to the terror of the public. He was placed under a $403,500
Offical records in the Whiteville Police Department dated back to 2004
show that city officers responded to a report of a fight and a man with a
gun at a local gas station on Powell Blvd.
The man refused to stop for police and a pursuit began that continued
outside the city limits. The Columbus County Sheriff's Office assisted
with the pursuit.
Officers said that Morgan pointed an SKS rifle toward them several times
and attempted to hit their vehicle during the chase before he crashed. A
rifle was recovered at the scene.The officers were able to locate
